After launching some attractive smartphones like Backflip and Quench, Motorola is back to introduce Charm as an alternative eye-catching Android phone for business people. What are the interesting parts and also bothersome sides of Motorola Charm? Here are some of them.
Meant to satisfy people’s need of high-end yet multifunction cellular phone, Motorola Charm comes with QWERTY keypad plus touchscreen display in one face. PHILIPS XENIUM X806, DUAL SIMCARD WITH LONG-LASTING BATTERY

Among various steps of many world class cellular phone manufacturers, Philips now comes back to offer their new product, Philips Xenium X806. While following the trend of touch screen and dual SIM card mode, Philips still uses their best weapon, namely long life battery. Still, this entry level cellular phone is lack of high speed 3G internet connection.
This Dutch electronic vendor has claimed that Philips Xenium X806 can stay on for a month in stand-by mode. This statement is based on their laboratory test with an initial full battery charge as well as switched-off Bluetooth. In spite of it offering common features, this long-life battery cellular phone brings good news for those love outdoor activities since they do not need to be always close to electricity power. Compared to its competitors, Philips Xenium X806 may have its own superiority in term of battery life. With 1530 mAh battery, this cellular phone offer more power to its lovers.
However, lacking of 3G connection becomes the main drawback of the mobile gadget. With the increasing demand of internet connection today, the ability of Philips Xenium X806 to merely connect its user through EDGE is considered ‘poor” for most people.  This is understandable since many new cellular phones now in turn offer 3G and 4G connection, not only for faster internet connection but also for better quality video call feature.
In short, those unique strength and drawback can become our main concern among other common specifications in buying new cellular phone. Be selective!

Just as computer technology goes fast today, mobile phone world has also been in a good progress. Many new breakthroughs have been launched, tempting more customers around the world to taste the inspiring technology of the mobile gadget. Among other attractions of the new mobile technology, dual-core processor for smartphone now becomes the main focus of cellular phone vendors.
So far, at least two world class electronic vendors have launched their dual core processor smartphones, namely LG with LG Optimus 2X and Motorola with Atrix 4G. The two dual-core smartphones are rumored to have been launched in Europe. Equipped with NVIDIA Tegra 2 Processor, both LG Optimus 2X and Atrix 4G try to attract more customers.
The main advantage of dual-core processor in smartphones is the ability to run multitasking activity faster than those of single-core. Moreover, with dual-core processor, we can save more power since two or more applications can be run at the same time. This is, certainly, what we call “economical.”
In the world of competitiveness, this step will be followed by others. In short, more vendors will play their significant roles in launching new dual-core processor smartphones. IS MEIZU M9 BETTER THAN iPHONE4?

The coming of Meizu M9, a Chinese Android phone, has brought iPhone4 into a tight market, especially in China. Many mass media stated that more Meizu lovers were in queue to get such a hi-tech smartphone. They claimed that more people got amazed by the features offered.  Now, a big question arises after reading the news: can Meizu M9 “kill” iPhone4?
Meizu M9 itself has some common specifications for today’s smartphone such as 512 MB ROM / 512 MB RAM, Android OS 2.2 Operating System, 5 megapixels Camera, Bluetooth / WiFi / GPS / TV-out Connectivity, Memory Expansion and 1350 mAh Battery. Almost similar to iPhone4, Meizu M9 has 3.5" (49.92 x 74.88 mm) touchscreen display with 960x640 pixel resolution. However, what makes this Android system based Chinese smartphone different from iPhone4 is its 1 Ghz Cortex A8-based Samsung S5PC110 processor. Certainly, this has made Meizu M9 more powerful.
Based on each feature, perhaps Meizu M9 is superior to iPhone4. However, their different systems have made customers think twice to choose. Both Android and Apple has its own strength as well as drawback. Therefore, since there is no exact number of customers of the two newly-launched smartphones, we can only say that “nothing gets killed”.
At last, let us wait and see what more breakthroughs in the world of cellular phone.  Seeing that mobile technology develops, as customers, we will get many choices to simplify our daily activities.

IS CHINA REALLY A MARKET LEADER FOR MOBILE PHONE?

When the first time we bought a mobile phone, perhaps we might see “Made by Nokia, Made by Siemens, Made in Finland, Made in Germany, etc.” at the back casing of the communication device. But now, such sentences become rare, or I prefer say “gone.” This is because the sentences are replaced by “Made in China.”
We have to admit that the marketing power of China in all products, especially mobile phone has influence many manufacturers from all over the world. They, particularly any mobile phone manufacturer that have a market in Asia, do not want to lose their potential customers. Based on their concern, they do some research for their product to always be acceptable in Asia, and the conclusion of the research is “using China to survive.”
Therefore, we have to understand that most mobile phones are now “Made in China.” With their cheap production cost, China is the best place for some mobile phone manufacturers to continue their production. For example, a big manufacturer like NOKIA has to let the words “Made in China,” since they manufacture their products in China. For some customers, those words have no meaning as long as they have NOKIA brand written in their mobile phones. Nevertheless, for certain customers, such words gave big impact since they have to face a consequence in using NOKIA mobile phone “Made in China,” especially its durability.
Well, that is the fact we have to face that China, in Asia, is the market leader for mobile phone, not only because they can produce cheap mobile phones but also they can frighten many big companies around the world, like NOKIA for instance.

BRIEF STORY OF MOBILE TECHNOLOGY

Mobile technology first use was in 1970, which began with the use of microprocessors for communication technology. In 1971, the first mobile phone network opened in Finland called ARP, followed later by NMT in Scandinavia in 1981, and AMPS in 1983.

The first generation of mobile phones, or known by the 1G could only serve voice communication. Later on, it developed into 2G technology that could be used for SMS (short message service) and data transfer with a maximum speed of 9600 bps (bits per second).

The standard 2G technology widely used was GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication), such as those used by most of the phone. At that era, GSM operated in the 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz and supported 14.4 kbps speed data communications. In 1993, there were 36 GSM networks in 22 countries.

After 2G, 2.5 G was born, which was a better version of the second generation (2G). Generation 2.5 had the ability to transfer data faster. The famous thing of this generation were GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) and EDGE.

Trends in mobile communications subsequently transferred to the next generation, ie third generation or 3G. This generation was better known as UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) or WCDMA (Wideband - coded Division Multiple Access). Data transfer of this generation could reach speed 384 kbps outdoors and 2 Mbps for indoor applications.

In addition, this generation could provide multimedia services such as internet, video streaming, video telephony, and others better. This third-generation CDMA technology originally came from the United States military technology.

CDMA technology made the capacity of a cell to be larger than the GSM system. In CDMA, each communication call had a specific code that allowed many customers use the same radio resources without interference and cross talk interference.

CDMA-based wireless communication system was first used in 1995 until now. CDMA became the main rival of the GSM system in many countries. In 1999, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) chose CDMA as standard technology for third generation (3G). CDMA had two variants, WCDMA and TD-SCDMA.

Demands to increase the speed of data transfer inspires the emergence of the Fourth Generation (4G), which increasingly allows humans to communicate, either through voice or video. This is a long journey in the world of mobile communications that will not stop in an "absurd satisfaction."
